The famous Asukayama Park cherry trees were planted in 1720. The Sakura flower viewing parties (hanami) include a small picnic and warmed sake. Above the image a haiku poem compares arboreal with human beauty;
Murekitaru / Hana mata hana no / Asuka-yama (All flocked together / Blossoms upon blossoms / Asuka Hill).
