Vintage image of the New York Yacht Club regatta. The start of the yacht race from the stake boat in the Narrows (off the clubhouse grounds on Staten Island in the New York Harbor), with a crowd of fashionably dressed spectators lining the shore. The competing yachts are Vesta, Henrietta, Dauntless, Phantom, Fleetwing, Palmer, Addie V, White Wing, Geraldine and Annie. From an original 19th century (1869) lithograph by Currier & Ives.
