Description
The Red Rose Girls ~ An uncommon story of art and love. Elizabeth Elliott, her colleagues and housemates Jessie Willcox Smith and Violet Oakley, and other friends enjoying each others love and cheer. The scene is set amid the trees and flowers of the grounds surrounding one of the homes shared by the three artists, the Red Rose Inn. Children play with a dog in the foreground. The title was chosen by Elliott from Van Dyke's poem "Inscriptions for a Friend's House", to celebrate their close friendship. From an original 1904 illustration with watercolor, charcoal and paint on illustration board, by Elizabeth Elliott. All Rights Reserved © 2012 padre art
