Description
The P-40 Warhawk was an American single-engine, low wing, all-metal fighter, bomber escort and fighter-bomber (with a payload of one bomb). The P40 was such a tough and dependable war bird that 28 nations used a version of the Curtiss Kittyhawk P-40. Over 13,000 were built at Curtiss-Wright Corporation's main production facilities in Buffalo, New York.
Warhawk was the official name adopted by the United States Army Air Corps for all models of the P-40. From an original 1943 OWI photo. All Rights Reserved © 2012 padre art
