Description
Damage from the 1906 earthquake in foreground. People walking up the hill towards the shell of the Fairmont Hotel, the streets showing the cable car lines. The building was completed just before the earthquake and still being furnished when disaster struck. The building shows scorch marks, through the windowless frames, from the fire that gutted the structure. Power poles are broken and wires lay in the street.
